Northern Parks Safaris

The cost of the Lodge Safaris, for any length of stay:

1 person -- $500/day (remember: you have the entire vehicle and program to yourself!!)
2 people -- $300/person/day
3-6 people -- $250/person/day
7-10 people -- $240/person/day
11+ people -- We can give special discounted rates and offers to large groups - please ask!

You can have one of our trained guide/naturalists accompany you on your safari, if you choose. These people are fluent in English, trained in wildlife biology and tourism, and enjoy helping you learn more about  the people and wildlife of Tanzania. These guides are additional to the driver (who is also well-trained in wildlife identificaiton and some behavioral ecology).

The cost for the guide:

Lodge safari - $150/day (per group)
Camping safari - $80/day (per group)

Prices for the Lodge Safaris are all inclusive. They include:

all National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area entrance fees
all ground transportation in Tanzania (including airport transfers)
safari-equipped 4WD Land Cruisers and Land Rovers, with our experienced driver/guides
all accommodations with full board at TAHI Safari Wildlife Lodges in National Parks
all administrative costs in Tanzania

Prices for the Camping Safaris include:

all National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area entrance fees and camping fees;
all ground transportation in Tanzania (including airport transfers)
safari-equipped 4WD Land Cruisers and Land Rovers, with our experienced driver/guides
all meals and coffee / tea breaks, and a cook;
basic 2-person tents (we do not provide sleeping bags or pads);
all administrative costs in Tanzania

This is basic camping in the bush at public campsites with limited facilities. Our cooks are trained to prepare all your meals according to American and European standards. The also watch the camp while you are out on game drives...

The cost of the Luxury Tented Camp Safari:

Because of the limited space and exclusive nature of these tented camps, arrangements must be made months in advance of your arrival.

COST: The cost is $6000 per person for the 10 day safari, and is all-inclusive.

The safari package above includes: 10 nights accommodation based on double occupancy with full board; all ground transportation in Tanzania and Kenya; domestic flights between Tarangire and Kirawira, and Ngorongoro and Arusha; all airport transfers; hiring of driver and certified safari guides; all National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area fees; all administrative fees in Tanzania.

The total price does NOT include: alcoholic drinks (included at Kirawira and Oliver’s Camp), soft drinks, and bottled water beyond 1-liter provided each day, airport taxes, tips for drivers, guides and porters.

The cost of the Zanzibar Holiday:

Prices vary according to the kind of accommodation you prefer and the activities you choose. As a guideline, accommodation is approximately as follows:

Luxury resorts and hotels (full board) - $120 to $180/person/day
Moderate hotels (bed-breakfast) - $40 to $70/person/day
Guest houses (bed-breakfast) - $25 to $40/person/day

The cost of the Mt. Kilimanjaro Expedition:

The total cost for a 6-day Kilimanjaro Expedition:

1 person -$900
2 people - $850/person
3-5 people - $800/person
6-9 people - $750/person
10+ people - $700/person

Prices for the Mt. Kilimanjaro Expedition include:

all Kilimanjaro National Park entrance, camping and rescue fees;

certified guide, all porters and cooks;

all food and coffee / tea breaks, and boiled drinking water;

2-person tents (where needed)
transport to and from your hotel to the park gates.

The following prices DO NOT include your accommodation the night before and after the 6 day hike, because many of our clients go on to other programs (e.g. wildlife safari or holiday on Zanzibar). We can arrange accommodation for you, depending on your preferences:

luxury accommodation - a lovely chalet on Kilimanjaro. $100/person/night
moderate priced hotel - clean, safe hotel or lodge. $50/person/night
camping at Klub Afriko, Arusha - showers and all meals. $25/person/night

The cost of the Mt. Meru Climb:

The accommodation and provisions are the same as on our Kilimanjaro Expedition, and the price below excludes accommodation before and after the hike.

The cost for the 4 day hike:

1 person - $750
2 people - $550/person
3-5 people - $500/person
6-9 people - $450/person
10+ people - $425/person

Prices for the Educational Hikes:

Includes 2-person tents, all food and a cook who will prepare all meals and snacks, donkeys or porters to carry supplies, all National Park and community entrance and camping fees, all guide fees, transportation, and all administrative costs in Tanzania. You will need a small day pack for personal items, hiking boots, layered clothing, a rain suit, flashlight, insect repellent, and 2 one-liter water bottles. Hikers must be willing to forego showers for several days, dig latrines and help set up and break down camp.

The cost of the Educational Walking Safaris is:

1 person -- $300/day
2 people -- $170/person/day
3-5 people -- $130/person/day
6-9 people -- $120/person/day
10+ people -- $100/person/day

The cost of the Ngorongoro Crater Highlands Hike is:

The cost of this unique trek is higher than other hiking safaris due to the special camping permits and Ngorongoro Conservation Authority fees (e.g. arranging donkeys, Maasai guides, village permits, NCA rangers, etc.)

2-5 people - $250/person/day
6-8 people - $225/person/day
9+ people - $200/person/day

The cost of the Ecological Safari to the Eastern Arc Mountains is:

Cost for the 14 day excursion, all inclusive:

2 people - $3000/person
3-5 people - $2750/person
6-9 people - $2500/person
10+ people - $2250/person

Prices for other educational hikes vary by program options, season and group size. Please feel free to contact us for more information and quotes.

Prices for Klub Afriko camping in Arusha:

The campsites at Klub Afriko can be used for $10/day per person (includes showers). Meals can be arranged with the Klub Afriko Staff (please give as much notice as possible, please) and explain any diet requirements you may have. Breakfast $3; Lunch and Dinner $5. The Klub Afriko Bar and garden area are there for your enjoyment, complete with satellite TV and email access.  Please feel free to give your cassettes to the bartender to play for you while you hang out.

Prices for Other Adventures:

Homestay:
The cost for a Homestay is USD $20/day. This is all-inclusive: accommodation, all food, boiled water, and a small donation to the household.

Work Camp: 
The cost for the Work Camp is USD $20/day per person. This includes: all food, accommodation (either at Klub Afriko or in Homestays), and boiled water. The cost of the raw materials is paid separately by the participants and will vary depending on the type of project chosen.

Kiswahili Language Training:
At Klub Afriko we have expert language trainers (used by SIT, Yale University, and Washington University students) and classroom facilities for interested persons - the cost ranges from $6-10/hour per person.
